WTJU Studio , 2244 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903, USA

About the Event

An Cuan; Irish Music & History with Kevin Doneavy (which includes some live Irish music and songs) will touch on settlers and visitors in Charlottesville and Richmond who played uilleann pipes, fiddle, and flute. Three of whom published in 1824 a collection of Irish songs and tunes. We'll explore the link between Thomas Jefferson and the Emmet family and how Charlottesville's Vinegar Hill got that name, and why some 2,000 Irish came through here on their way to build railway tunnels through the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The talk will take place at radio station WTJU, located at 2244 Ivy Road next to Vivace restaurant and just west of the university Ground on the ground floor of the station, and you can enter through the back door.
